Final Battle

At the beginning of this novel, Victor is chasing the creature around the north pole. Throughout the story there is so much build up and action and plot that the book leads you to believe there is going to be a final, big, climactic fight to end the book between Victor and the Creature. However, this novel, to my disappointment, comes to a screeching halt and abruptly ends without any grand frontation. The monster, on the last page, talks about how he knows Frankenstein was out to get him. "And yet cherished a desire of revenge against me, it would be better satiated in my life than in my destruction. But it was not so; thou didst seek my extinction." (pg. 166) He even knows at the end that there should have been a final battle, but did not happen to the reader's dismay. The monster then leaves on his funeral pile, burning to ashes.
