Huxley also implements the use of similes in his writing. Similes are used to compare things. He compares the students writing in their notebooks to chickens drinking. Without knowing what they are doing, they do anything the director tells them to. This contributes to the idea that the government has complete control over the population. With complete control, you can make people do anything, and therefore make them do what you want to do.
