Shakespeare likes to use irony in his works. It is scattered throughout his plays and allows him to add to the story. In "Othello" one type of irony he uses is dramatic irony. Dramatic irony is when the reader knows something that the characters in the story do not. Dramatic irony is partnered with the character Iago. We find out about his sneaky and selfish nature that is not revealed directly to the other characters. We see that he truly only puts himself first instead of actually helping anyone.
