Why So Racist?

In "Othello", written by William Shakespeare, there are many racist remarks to the Moor, Othello. Some of these examples are: "Your son in law is far more fair than black", "What a full fortune does thick lips owe", and "Black ram tupping white ewe". The last quote compares him to an animal and puts him down by saying because he is black he is like an animal. The first quote is sort of a backhanded compliment, it compliments him by basically insulting him. He says he is worthy, even though he is black or different skinned. However, I don't think these people would be racist towards him if they saw what he did in The Matrix.
