Foreshadowing

Now I know this story, The Lottery, is focusing more on point of view, but there is a lot of foreshadowing going on early in the story. The story starts with the children all gathering rocks. We later find out that these rocks will be used to stone someone. Also, the person who was stoned arrived late to the tradition. Normally when people are late to things, something bad happens. A word that was used in this story a lot was the word nervous. The story was overall nonchalant and impartial. But most of the characters seemed nervous, and now we know why.
