How I met my Disappointing Ending

In the short story How I Met My Husband, the structure is a straightforward story. This story builds up the suspense of Edie waiting for her boy to write a letter back after he left town. She waits and waits by the mailbox, but he never writes. Now everyone is expecting a romantic, Hollywood ending. However, this is not one of those. She ends up with the mailman and all the romantic thoughts and attachment towards the man who left are now just as gone as he is. This drifter made the story take a twist ending and definitely was not expected, or wanted.
